WHO AM I

I am a hard working, ambitious and passionate student. Ever since I was a child, my connection to nature has been strong, it has always been the one constant in my life and has helped me through some tough times. Even though I only have the manpower and resources of a regular high school student, I have the charisma and rigour of a whole organization.I have and will continue  working night and day to ensure the world around me is constantly improving, and that I can be there to defend the environment when it can't stand for itself. I am in my final year of high school and am just a few short months away from graduating. But through this fight I hope to help the planet live long enough so one day I too can witness my own kids graduate high school.

WHAT I DO

Fight for the environment, because it cant stand for itself.

For years, environmentalists have been brushed off, dismissed, considered nothing but conspiracy theorists. The idea of climate change seemed so abstract and distant that most thought it to pose no threat to the general population. However, climate change is very much rooted in reality, and mankind had been seeing its effects long before it even tried to take action. Now, the Earth has seen the dire physical and observable effects on the environment. Glaciers have shrunk, ice on the rivers, lakes are breaking earlier, wildfires are running whole ecosystems, coastal communities are regularly flooded by rising sea levels, plant and animal ranges have shifted and trees are flowering sooner. These effects of climate change have altered the world without any public attention due to  very little acknowledgement, however ; soon the effects of climate change will be so damming and disastrous that ignoring them would be impossible. In fact, poorer communities face the most calamitous effects of climate change, because they don't have access to shelter or food in the wake of hurricanes, forest fires and rising sea levels. The Earths climate has become incredibly unstable and has seen a dire lack of action to combat its effects. This is because there is not enough awareness and education about the causes, effects, and aftermath of climate change. In the face of economic frenzies and a heavy reliance in big fossil fuel companies; politicians and global leaders, tend to not include battling climate change as a priority. For years, fossil fuels have received tremendous amounts in the from of subsidies, which increase the availability but decrease the price of fossil fuels, further popularizing it as the more common form of energy for the world. Instead the world should focus on challenging and breaking the misconceptions and myths that surround climate change and the availability of renewable resources, while promoting an environmentally friendly global community, by implementing strict carbon taxes in and out of country borders as a way to discourage the use of fossil fuels. Resources and finances should be redirected from fossil fuels towards renewable resources, in the form of subsidies, or private and federal funding in the research and implementation of renewable resources.
